McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week: Jessica Strong

Jessica StrongEach week the McNamara Academic Center for Student-Athletes (MAC) will recognize one University of Minnesota student-athlete for his or her academic achievements. The winner of the McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 11th is Jessica Strong from the women’s track team.

Coach Matt Bingle believes that Strong is very deserving of the honor. “Jessica is a great individual who works very hard and is very determined and organized,” Bingle said. “She is very committed to being a good student and it shows.”

Academic Counselor Erin Meier knows that Strong is a dedicated student-athlete and thinks of her as a remarkable leader for her teammates.

“Jessica has made her presence known during her three years at the U. She not only writes for The Goldy (for student-athletes), she also writes for the campus publication The Griot,” Meier said. “Jessica takes advantage of all of the resources and opportunities that Minnesota has to offer. She has a great and limitless future ahead of her in journalism and in any other area that she chooses to pursue.”

Strong is a junior and a journalism major. She is originally from Madison, Wisconsin.
