McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week: Sarah Krueger
Each week, the McNamara Academic Center for Student-Athletes (MAC) will recognize one University of Minnesota student-athlete for his or her academic achievements. The winner of the McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 9th is Sarah Krueger from the rowing team.
Coach Wendy Davis has noticed how quickly academics have become a priority in Krueger’s college career.
“Sarah is a wonderful example of what can happen when an incredible athlete decides she wants to be an incredible student as well,“ Davis said. “She sees the advantages that come with being excellent in both worlds.”
Krueger is a freshman from Saratoga Springs, New York. She is planning on majoring in elementary education.
Academic Counselor Chelsie Schafer and Learning Specialist Todd Helmer are especially impressed that Sarah manages to do so well academically while sharing commitments to rowing and her training as a speed skater.
“I knew that Sarah’s dedication to her athletic endeavors would carry over to her commitment to academic success,” Schafer said. “Sarah has been a champ in the classroom. She should be very proud of the time she dedicates to her studies – she uses all of the resources the MAC has to offer our student-athletes.“
Helmer also praised Krueger’s academic performance. He said, “Sarah has been very responsible when it comes to her academic progress and success this semester.“
